WNMAA Workshop*

Workshop on New Media Art Archiving (WNMAA) is an international knowledge-building event initiated by the following archive partners: ISEA Symposium Archives, ACM SIGGRAPH History Archive, Archive of Digital Art (ADA), Ars Electronica Archive, FILE Archive, ZKM | Archives, and MEMODUCT posthuman.archive. The scope of the 1st Workshop attracted numerous NMAA players, which has led to the enlargement of the community and the emergence of a self-organised network structure. → newmediaartarchiving.org
Under the motto CONNECTED DATA – CONNECTED PEOPLE, the Workshop on New Media Art Archiving (WNMAA) aspires to build a permanent collaboration platform that bonds together experts, practitioners, and stakeholders enabling them to acquire knowledge/skills through active participation:
- Engagement in discussions to formulate networking participatory systems and knowledge production models that interconnect new media art archivists with the researchers, artists, and programmers;
- Conceiving plans for actual modes of connection between archives that will enhance communication among practitioners involved in the new media art archiving process;
- Exploration of solutions for the technological hurdles associated with using open knowledge-based systems to connect online new media art archives;
- Highlighting the significance of comprehensive metadata and documentation standards for effective archiving;
- Examination of strategies for enhancing access to archived media artist information while ensuring long-term preservation and security;
- Collaboration to develop and test potential strategies for networking and tools development, culminating in the creation of the prototypes that integrate cutting-edge concepts and state-of-the-art technologies.
